Crescent Harbor students visit the library with their class each week to read and check out books. Items can be checked out for up to two weeks. In addition, students can access the library from home to see what materials are available.  

Students can access both World Book Encyclopedia Online and PebbleGo from home.  PebbleGo is an informational text database with information about animals, earth and space, biographies, and social studies. 

User names and passwords for online resources will be provided to students by their teachers or during library classes. 

Crescent Harbor Elementary Students have the opportunity to participate is several reading-related awards:

• Sasquatch Award -- Sponsored by the Washington Library Media Association, the Sasquatch Award is given to a chapter book written for grades 4 through 8. The award winner is selected by the children of Washington State in the spring each year. Each year Crescent Harbor Elementary students in the fourth and fifth grades read the nominated books and vote on their favorite.
• Young Reader's Choice Award (Junior Division) -- Sponsored by the Pacific Northwest Library Association, this award is open to students in grades four through twelve in the Pacific Northwest who have read at least two titles from the list. Crescent Harbor Elementary students along with students in Alaska, Alberta, British Columbia, Idaho, Montana, and Washington vote on their favorite book from the list of nominations.  
• Washington Children's Choice Picture Book Award -- This award is selected annually by Washington State's K-3 students, who vote for this award through their local teacher-librarian. This award is given through the Washington Library Media Association.

Additionally, Oak Harbor Public Schools is pleased to announce a partnership with Sno-Isle Libraries granting public library resources automatically to each K-12 student.
