CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

The Crescent Harbor Elementary construction process moved into a new phase last week. After weeks of preparing the site by removing soil, and spreading and grading gravel, building has begun. Countess concrete trucks have filled forms for footings and parts of the foundation, creating visual indicators of where the outer walls of the new school will be. It is an exciting step. Check out these pictures that show the progress!

Ground Breaking Ceremony October 22nd.

Demolition and salvage of the playground equipment is underway to make room for the new school.

Tiger Construction uses concrete ecology blocks for layout of the south east wing of the new school.

Here the bolts for the steel column base are being installed in the brace frame.

This is one of the many brace frame footings at key structural points in the foundation. These brace frames are an integral underground part of the shear wall system providing structural strength to the building once it is poured solid with concrete. On October 11th the contractor, architect, CSG, engineer, and the special inspector all did a site walk before the concrete pour.

October 14th saw 18 truck loads of concrete pour the foundations of the new school.

The trucks pour the fresh concrete into the hopper of the truck and then it is pumped out and placed. This is one of the large brace frame footings that are about 4 feet deep and 9 feet wide.

Forms were then stripped and removed. Backfill is being placed and compacted in this photo.

Water main pipe was delivered for the underground water and fire hydrant lines on the site.

Two types of gravel are brought in and stockpiled on site and unusable soil is then loaded and trucked off site.
