End of the Year Message from OHPS Superintendent

Posted Date: 6/10/25 (5:30 PM)

Dear Oak Harbor Families and Community,

As we close out the school year, I want to take a moment to reflect with deep gratitude and pride on the journey we’ve shared. Even in the face of ongoing budget challenges, our staff has continued to rise to the occasion with unwavering dedication to our students. Their dedication to honoring our Student Vision Experience and the foundations of our strategic plan has never wavered. It is this unwavering resolve that continues to shape a learning environment where every student feels a sense of belonging, purpose, and opportunity.

This year has been filled with remarkable achievements and milestones. From joyful preschool performances to the community pride of our 2025 graduates, we’ve celebrated our students at every stage of their educational journey. While Oak Harbor may be a small island community, the impact of our students and staff is anything but small.

Oak Harbor has earned recognition at the local, state, and even national levels, proof of the powerful teaching and learning happening each day. From state and national championship titles and award-winning student performances to national and state recognition earned by our dedicated staff, Oak Harbor students and educators are leaving their mark on the world. We also recently honored our retirees whose years of service have left a lasting legacy in our district. Their care and contributions will continue to shape the lives of students for years to come.

And it’s not too late to join us for more celebrating! Many of our end-of-year celebrations are still ahead, and we invite you to take part in these special moments before our last student day.  We will honor our graduates on Saturday, June 14 at Oak Harbor High School. You can watch the livestream of the graduation ceremony on the Oak Harbor High School website. We also recently honored our HomeConnection and OHVA graduates on Saturday, June 7. You can view their ceremony on the HomeConnection facebook page

There is so much to be proud of, and even more to look forward to. To our families, community members, and partners, thank you. Your support helps us stay grounded in our purpose and united in our efforts. Together, we are building something strong and lasting in #OneOakHarbor.

Wishing you a safe, joyful, and restful summer.

Warmly,
Dr. Michelle Kuss-Cybula
