Halloween Guidelines
Dear Crescent Harbor Elementary Family:
We are approaching the end of October, and many families celebrate Halloween by dressing up in costumes and collecting candy. Students are allowed to wear costumes to school on Halloween, and I want to share guidelines for dressing up on Halloween, October 31, at Crescent Harbor Elementary.
Students may dress up in Halloween costumes, pajamas, sports jerseys, or typical clothes.
Student faces must be visible, so no masks or face paint.
Costumes may not include blood, weapons, or other violent themes.
Students must be able to sit at their desk and participate in classroom learning activities, so no inflatable costumes, helmets, or accessories.
Students may not bring candy to school as an exchange or a gift.
The principal reserves the right to determine if a costume is not school-appropriate and will contact parents for a change of clothes if necessary.
I am aware that some of our students watch movies and play video games with themes that are more violent than we allow in school. Because we have students as young as 5 years old and want all students to feel safe, we strive to create a “G-rated” environment in school. Rather than dressing up as a violent or scary person for school, students might consider dressing up as a character from a favorite book, a sports hero, a historic figure, or some other person or animal that fits within the school’s guidelines.
Please reach out with any questions. We look forward to a fun Halloween at CHE!
Sincerely,
Bill Weinsheimer
Principal
