School Supplies

We are committed to reducing expenses for families. We are able to provide some school supplies to all classes and academic and extracurricular programs through the incredible generosity of our community’s support of our local levy. Our schools will purchase some of the basic supplies students need for learning, as we do with books and other materials. If your student is in need of school supplies, please check with the office for support.

Student Transportation

Regular transportation is provided for students residing outside the one-mile walking area of their home school attendance area. Please fill out the Transportation Request Form to request student transportation or to request a change to your current arrangement throughout the year. If you submit a form over the summer, the transportation team will contact you in late August.

To guarantee a transportation route for the first week of school, families must have submitted their transportation request using the form below by August 19, 2026. Starting in the 2026-2027 school year, eligible families who have received transportation services in the previous school year do not need to submit a new transportation request unless they have a change of address. Route assignments for the new school year take place at the end of August.

Oak Harbor Public Schools will be using a new app called BusRight that will allow you to keep track of your student's school bus route to and from school directly from your smartphone.
For any questions, please contact our transportation team at 360.279.5570.

School Meals

In the 2026-2027 school year, Oak Harbor Public Schools is transitioning to a self-operating model for food service. The change isn't just about food - it's about fueling student health and nutrition with a vision to improve overall operations, customer service, and quality. Updates to the school nutrition program include implementing batched cooking, portioned fresh fruits and vegetables, providing a wider variety of hot vegetable options, and prioritizing meal presentation.

Some of our schools qualify for free school meals! This means that every student in the school will receive free meals, but to maintain free meals, applications for free and reduced lunch must be submitted by families every year. Apply in Skyward Family Access.

The schools receiving free school meals for all students for the 2026-2027 school year are:
  • Broad View Elementary
  • Crescent Harbor Elementary
  • Oak Harbor Elementary
  • Olympic View Elementary
  • HomeConnection
  • Hand-in-Hand Early Learning Center

Free and reduced benefit eligibility remains in effect until mid-October of the next school year. Submitting a new application early each fall will prevent any lapse in benefits.

If you qualify for free or reduced-price meals, you are eligible for decreased fees to participate in other school programs. Early application submission also ensures schools qualify for state or federal programs that are determined by free and reduced percentages.

Don’t forget to set up e-Funds and turn on negative balance notices to monitor your account balance.

Supporting Our Neighbors

As communities throughout Washington continue to recover from devastating wildfires, many families are facing the loss of homes, belongings and a sense of stability. As one Washington community, we have an opportunity to support our neighbors in Eastern Washington.

If you’re looking for a way to help, consider making a financial donation to an established relief organization such as the American Red Cross, which is providing assistance, supplies and recovery support to people impacted by the fires. Other local organizations are also coordinating food, shelter and long-term recovery efforts.
